l bought the bike a couple months ago as a project. The bike started and idled when l got it but was spiting the gas/air mix out the carburetor. Now it wo not start unless l give it gas then let go of the throttle. All l have is about 300 to make it run right.

You should start by getting it tuned & serviced. This should include new plugs, points, air filter, oil & filter change, & synchronizing the carburetors, adjusting cam chain tension & valves. The plug caps should be replaced if they r deteriorated. Hopefully ur wires r OK or the coil packs would have to be replaced. Some big bucks there. You should then check the condition of everything like tires, drive chain & sprockets, brakes, cables, levers & pedals. Lights too. Put the bike on it is center stand & check the side to side play of the swing arm to check for worn bushings. Have someone knowledgeable give it a once over. If the bike is mostly original & all the parts r there it would be worth spending a little more if necessary. This bike can run & ride like a champ. Good Luck.
