Then ask yourself, ''Can l make one of these myself, for less money than it would cost to buy a new one?''

Service manuals have troubleshooting guides, telling how to test them.
And who cares what components are inside - you can not buy replacement parts.

its the new thing , well not so new. But under normal conditions, they last pretty long. And the output beats points, old style distribs, ect which didnt give as much performance as these new brains do.

You r correct but the problem involved is how specific they r to a certain model or engine & that makes them a proprietary device. In other words the device is available from one source & they have u by the boys..

They contain a processor & some transistors, big whoopie! And something that cost only a few bucks can bring $400 or more - so u r correct but the problem is there is no where else to turn to. They sink the boards in wax or wax epoxy mixtures making access to the components hard or impossible & they use simple component devices that r unmarked or remarked making it impossible to identify what the component is.

They have a market where the consumer is convinced that the CD l is some type of rocket science device sophisticated beyond belief. & they r laughing all the way to the bank it is a huge rip-off
