the start bitton not working on my 01 gsxr 600 l can change the position of the button to kill and it will die (after l jump the cyl. to start/under the seat) and doesnt have prob. staying started but when l turn the key l hear the fuel pump kick on and lights come on then l hit button and nothing not even a sound???? nl dont know

take a jumper cable from pos side of battery to starter post, does starter turn ? If not its nad, if it does then the next thing to check is starter solinoid. There will be a heavy wire from battery to one side, a heavy wire on the other side to starter, a thin hot wire (comming from your starter button) put 12vdc there from battery, does it click and starter turn, if yes then starter switch is bad, if no then solinoid is bad.

sounds like the switch contacts are bad.. find some plastic safe contact cleaner at the local electronics shop pull the switch housing off the clip on and clean the housing out really well.if this does not fix it try shorting across the switch contacts (be sure to have the bike in Neutral or you will have a bike in your lap) if the bike then starts you will have to replace the switch

It sounds like you have a bad safety switch. You can check the kickstand switch by following the wire from the switch on the kick stand to the it is a connector. disconnect it and us a jumper wire to jump the leads and try and start it. Also their is a clutch switch do the same with it. it is located on the clutch perch. l think it is probably one of those.
