speed indeed? do sportbike riders really have something to prove??

Some do. l know many sport riders, like myself, that do not speed, do not crowd or cutoff others, and do not always have to be first off the light.

It is to prove to yourself that you can do it, make that turn at that speed, hit that gap, ride 10 miles in 5 minutes.

Is it stupid? Yes

Is it fun?Yes

Is it worth it?depends on your perspective.

I've sampled all styles of motorcycle, dirt, street, cruiser, sport, super sport etc. I've settled on a sport touring machine (for 8 years now) after having ridden a full dress tourer for 10 years before that. l prefer the sport machine for it is advanced technology. Would u want to fly a fighter jet or a bi-plane. Do u want to stop on a dime or when u get around to it? Do u want to be able to accelerate out of almost any situation or just maybe pull out of it?

l think it is just different strokes. Depending on what floats your boat.

There is all kinds of thrill seekers, some live through it, some don't.

l just like a powerful bike that handles extremaly well. It is more fun to go 75mph on a bike that is capable of 150mph than it is on a bike that is only good for 80 or 90. There is alot of safety in the ability to accelerate out of problems.

Why pay more for a two wheeled tractor that has no get up and go?

Only the squids who feel that every moment on a sport bike is a moment to prove ones manhood or lack of it. Lucky for the rest of us that is a shrinking gene pool.

Even though we know that NOT all crotch rocket riders are like that, but it is so common that it seems that way.

When l chopped the '55 Pan did l become a sport rider? l have always been kind of gamey or so the Old Lady says. Got a Jeg is Racing decal on the Hoveround but do not know how it got there. They're serving salisbury steak down at the mission again and that goes through me fast.

The guys l ride with have all raced bikes & we run on race tyres, full suits, knee sliders (and use them). l do not do it to prove anything to others. l am sure people think we ride the way we do to get some sort of recognition but to be honest l could not care what others think, they do not see why we do it, we do it for adrenalin! We do not ride like this around riders that r not part of the group, we catch up to other riders, overtake when safe, then get back to it, respecting their space & there right to ride the way they wish without pressure from us. Everyone rides for different reasons & l can respect that, & I'd much rather others ride within there limits. We're not out there to hurt ourselves or others, & we do not ride like that in built up areas. We enjoy ridding that way & its within our limits, to do so. (the guys l ride with anyway) l have to say l do not get what big cruiser bike rider gets out of ridding there rolling couches, why not buy a car & stay warm. But it is not for me to judge, as long as they enjoy being on the bike, good on them & l wish them many years of happy ridding, l just do not see the point.

No. l think it is because they can go fast which mean a lot of them think they should.

It must be tempting when you are at traffic lights to accelerate madly when the light turns green then brake sharply when you reach the next red light.

My bike is not that powerful so the only way l can drive fast is to watch what is happening far ahead and drive steadily without accelerating and braking hard.

l see it a lot in the Army troops l train. They r not trying to prove any thing to the world just them self is Then need to know that they can reach down & over come their fears
when they start on this path the quicken (Adeline rush) starts become like a drug & they push & push till they burn it all up, or burn out.
