l just purchases a Honda, Metropolitan Il scooter. l know the engine is 49cc, but l have no Idea what the registered speed is...In the state of KY, if it registered for more than 30mph, you need a moped license for it.

no you do not need one

at least not where l live

all you need to do to drive one is be 16 and have an ID

Wrong way round it is a moped as it complies with the 2 rules.
1) No bigger than 50cc.
2) No faster than 50KPH = APPROX 31MPH
So yes you require a moped license

In New York, do not need a motorcycle license for Honda Metro II. As long
as it has plates, registered and insured. Far as l know, all you need is a standard driver license.
Good idea to check with a local Honda Powersport(Motorcycle) dealer and ask them whats required.

l live in KY and you do not have to have a motorcycle endorsement to ride it. You DO need a standard drivers license though.

The reason u have no idea what the registered speed is, is because, like most companies (Chinese, Japanese or otherwise), Honda wants to tell ur local DMV/DOT/whatever that they r a moped i.e. 30mph max, but when they get u into the shop they will tell u (just between u & me, mind you) that they will actually go, like, 35 or 38 mph. l think u will find that Kentucky will let u ride this as a moped, & u will also find that it will ''do 30 easily or some other such sales pitch!! Note that in the link below there is nothing under ''Speed & Acceleration''!!
