l am looking at approximate prices for insurance for bikes in the Toronto area Canada, this is what l came up with, these are all starter bikes, l do not wanna drive very fast, just to school and back, but handling is important to me, l do not want the bike to feel all over the place as l am a very new driver to motorcycles.
what are the virtues and short comings of each bike?
should l be after a Sport or cruiser bike? will 125cc give me enough power for highway driving?

-----Sport Bikes------------Insurance Cost per year
Honda CBR125R---------------$1550(125cc)
Kawasaki Ninja 250cc---------$1600

-----Cruiser Bikes-------------Insurance Cost per year
Honda Rebel 250cc -------------$1550
Kawasaki Eliminator 125cc-----$1511
Suzuki marauder 250cc----------$1550

The Kawasaki Eliminator 125cc seems like a good bet from among the bikes u have listed. The reason being that it has a low seat height, which is a boon for good handling & inspires oodles of confidence when u can easily put both ur feet flat on the ground.

Having said that, it also have ample power to take u to school & back. Just remember, everyday is a learning experience & the time & effort u spend with ur bike, even though it be a 125cc will not be in vain.

Also remember, any one bike will not be able to deliver everything. It will always be good at some things & OK with other things. As u get more experienced, u will then be able to choose, which mix of features will be favored by u instead of others.

of coarse this is like asking, truck or car, ford or chevy.
But my two cents is honda. Love 'em, trust 'em. I'd get a 450 rebel if u could find one. l bought a 250 rebel & wanted something a little quicker off a stop maybe. 4 weeks after owning it. Also u can find some rebel is from the 80 is in great condition for dirt cheap. Mine was $1100 with only 5k original miles. The eliminator is what most classes use to learn on. Personally l like the comfort in a cruiser but u wont know till u start riding.

The best bike out of all of these is the Ninja 250 but new l am of the opinion it is over priced. Get a used Ninja 250 & insurance is a lot cheaper.

Those insurance rates r way too high. l ride a 1000cc ninja & pay about $250 a year.

So if u r financing a bike its a rip off.do not do it. Buy it outright used as it is not worth paying $300 a month for the bike plus $100+ for insurance.

Get a used bike & the basic insurance is under $300 a year. See videos below
