I am a photog who has been commissioned to take art photos of a biker. He is an older gentleman (about 55-65) and he will use them on his website.I am a genteel woman and l do not know what to do. He said he wants studio photos, not outdoor but we have not finalized that.Do you have any ideas of cool photos of a fun loving older biker?
thanks, firecracker.i'm looking for specific posing ideas, though.l like the guy, he seems like fun but l do not have a clue as to the aesthetic of the subculture, you know what l mean?Emo kids like one thing, Middle aged moms (like me) like different things.What appeals to bikers?What would make a 65 year old man look ''cool''?I am not saying his age is uncool (heck, I am uncool -- just ask my kids).But what is ''cool'' to a biker and flattering to an older man at the same time?

Who commissioned you? The subject?
If so, take the same kind / style of pictures you usually take, as he knows your style and it is probably what he will expect.
Obviously he is not doing a Penthouse style spread.

If you're worried about the difference between ''Biker'' and ''Genteel do not be. Most of those old gruff guys are actually somebody is sweet grandpa when no one is looking.

Portrait through the frame or a part like a carb or exhaust, him pinsharp the bike in part focus. Him reflected in a chrome part. His leathers or jacket without him.

I'd try for a couple of shots from his back with his face reflected in the mirror. Then there is always the oh-so common bike sideways & parked on its sidestand, front wheel turned into the lean & him standing behind it, one had resting on the tank & the other on the seat

l might try for a head on pose, with the bike is headlight at the bottom of the photo, handlebars out to each side & him with his arms crossed facing the camera. Kind of the balanced out, round headlight & guy is head at the top & bottom & the handlebars & his arms horizontal filling in the middle. Might not be the classic 1/3-2/3 picture, but sometimes u gotta go against the grain.

Also consider some shots from a very low camera angle. If outside on a highway, maybe the tire & his heel on the pavement filling a good portion of the scene with the road disappearing into the distance taking up the rest.

Do not forget extreme closeups, a weathered hand on the throttlegrip, scuffed up boot, weatherbeaten face & so on.
