l had my first race last night, and unluckily in my first heat l dumped my bike on another racers bike. Did not notice till after the heat that my front brake was not working correctly. After some looking at it l noticed the rotor was bent. (Some first race eh?)

l have had some people tell me to take it off and bend it back, or just replace it.

So what should l do?

Put the bike on a stand so the front wheel will spin freely. Turn it slowly & you will see where & in what direction it is bent. l like using a 10 or 12 inch crescent wrench to bend'em straight. It gives you plenty of leverage to ease it right. Just close it is jaws on the rotor. Good Luck !

sure you could lay it on a hard flat ground and hit with hammer should fix it if not buy another 50 bucks maybe id try a big hammmer first . is what l did you mine when l knock mine over and bent it

Back in 1981, l purcased a ten(approximate) year old Kawasaki Z1,a 904cc bike. This was bigger & more complicated than anything l had ridden or worked on. This was in Fairbanks, AK. & parts were scarce. The bike came with a FACTORY repair manual & this was the real deal. It told u what damaged parts could be repaired & what had to be replaced. For example, let is say u straightened the rotor,did u know that even small irregularities in the surface can cause very dangerous vibrations & premature equipment failure. If u cannot afford (about $125 ) the factory repair manual,purchase a new or professionally refaced rotor from an authorized dealer. This is ur life at stake here,do not be cheap on maintaining u bike.

You will never get it perfectly true - the bending and hammering will put imperfections in the metal and create stress marks which will cause cracks when the rotor heats up (which could lock up the front wheel and throw you off the bike).

A new rotor really does not cost much, and you will NEVER get the bent one exactly straight again.
