It is like a cylinder...l have points.Does one side get juice from the ignition and other goes to the points?Is there a ground involved?

The coil has 2 posts on it.The positve post goes to your ignition switch and the negative post goes to your points.Thats all you need.

Andy got it right. The plug wires do not matter because it is dual fire. (both plugs fire at the same time)

a lot if the old ones were not marked with a +or- at the posts. you got it right, connect 1 to the hot wire from the switch & the other to the points. it will actually work with either wire to either post.
if its marked, the hot wire gos to the + side.
some people will argue for hours about how important polarity is but if you go out & swap the wires it will run just the same.
been a lot of free beers won in bar bets on this.
