l live in San Diego and am looking to buy a scooter, preferrably under $1000 thats great for riding around to and from work and doing errands. What cc size should l go for?

Get at least a 150 cc if your going to ride in town only, if you are going to use the freeways with it, get a 250 cc or bigger. l ride in town only with a 150 cc and it works good and is capable of 55 mph on flat ground. Mine is here http://charlie-son.com/CSJCL150B.aspx

ps: it gets 88 mpg

l would look at the Kymco line if l were you. You might have to spend a little more but they are super reliable and run for ever. They have a two year warranty and there is never a problem with them on that. l do not own one l fix them and Kymco almost never break. You are taking a chance when you order scooters on line.

Look for a used Kymco, Honda, or Yamaha. You will be winding up with a scooter under 50cc is with that budget, which means only getting up to about 35 MPH. Hopefully you're also going to include a helmet in your budget!

I'd look for a used Honda Elite 150cc or a 250cc scooter which will provide years of solid performance and they are very reliable.

Good luck!

You can get a DOT/Carb approved 50cc bike from http://xtrememinimotors.com . They have some great honda replica bikes. Hope this helps.
