I'AM THINKING ABOUT BUYING A 2006 KAWASAKl NINJA 250 WITH ABOUT 2000 MILES THE ONLY THING IS THAT IT IS SALVAGED. NOW l KNOW THE LAWS WITH SALVAGED CARS BUT IS IT THE SAME WITH MOTORCYCLES?

l RODE TH BIKE AND IT RODE FINE, IT'S ACTUALLY IN A GOOD SHAPE JUST MINOR SCRATCHES FROM BEING LAID DOWN.

DO l NEED TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING AND IS THERE ANYTHING l NEED TO BE CHECKING BEFORE BUYING THE BIKE?

There was a good article on salvage bikes in a recent (this past summer) issue of Motorcyclist. Try the magazine is website & see if they have it available online or scout ur local used bookstores for a copy. l can not remember which month it was in exactly though.

If the bike checks out ok with an independent mech (not the seller) & the price is right, l say go for it & enjoy. Realize though that most dealers will not accept a salvage titled trade in, their liability risk in the USSA here is too great already & the best they'd do is break it up for parts. So if this is not a bike u want to keep very long, maybe best to ante up for a regular title good condition bike.

I've heard these 250 ''Ninja-peds'' r great fun. There r spec racing clubs for them if u want to get into competition on the cheap.

Make damn sure the front wheel did NOT hit anything.

Reason is that it does not take much of an impact to the front wheel to bend the frame behind the forks and under the gas tank where you can not see it.

Scrapes to the lower fork legs from laying it down do not count as front wheel impact.
