These are decent first sport bikes

Kawasaki Ninja 250
Honda Cbr 125
Yamaha R1 250
Honda Cbr 250rr

These bikes are great starter sport bikes, all are capable of doing around 100mph..not that im saying you should just giving you an idea of their capabilities

the f4i may be too much power for you

cheers

l know just what u r going through. My choice was between the R1 or the GSX 1000. l asked many people who said l should go with a calmer bike like the F4i which is a very good bike for the right price. l even had some tell me to stick with a Kawi 250 for awhile before moving up.

l finally decided to meet in the middle & went with the Yamaha R6. l must say that l was a little bit scared of the bike at first. It has a very quick throttle & can make u check ur pants at any second. However, after riding all summer long the R6 l can not imagine owning anything less than a 600. l am not made of money, so this bike is going to be around for awhile (hopefully). l wanted a bike l could ride for years, not just a learning bike so l could move up in a year or two.

My advise is the R6 or the CBR600rr. Just respect the bike until u get more comfortable with it, & always wear ur gear. ALWAYS!!

l have heard the 08 CBR 600rr is much more rider friendly than the other models, but u can research which one u like for yourself, but stay in the 600 cc range because as u said ur not rich & it may be with u longer than u think.

please be realistic, learn to walk before you run.
start with a small bike, 250cc-500cc, as getting an R1 or Hayabusa is a shortcut to the morgue for a beginner.

a Ninja 250R would be the cheapest & easiest to learn on.

Ninja 500, 650R & Suzuki 650SF would be good choices with more power.

You could start on a 600cc supersport like a Ninja ZX6R or GSXR600 if u r careful. 1000cc sportbikes r pretty much overkill for a beginner, but even a responsible beginner could handle a 1000cc. Keyword, Responsible

Whatever bike u choose , the most important thing is get proper rider training through a MSF class.

.and well, when u see what a 16 year old will have to pay for insurance on certain sportbikes then ur choice may already be made up for you.

l just got my first bike about 4 and a half months ago. l got a 03 cbr 600rr. it was $4,300. many people told me not to get it cus it would be to much for me but l say buy something that your not gonna grow out off after one season. everyone talks about being soo safe but your getting a motorcycle how safe is it really. my advice is just to keep it off the high way for a while till you feel out the power, then take it out and have some fun.
