I am taking the MSF course this weekend..
And I've never ridden a dirtbike, motorcyle, anything.
And l think that I am going to end up looking stupid and embarrassed
and all my friends say learning to ride is simple, but l just can not shake the feeling.
l have a tendency to do that when I am nervous.

Listen to the instructor and you will be fine. You are likely not the only one who has never ridden before in the class.

It is just like riding a bike, Motorcycles are designed to stay upright when moving forward. How else do you think people stand on the back seat of their bikes with hands in the air? Just do not lean the bike over too far and you will be fine.

Some people do not work well under pressure and Bub this is big pressure, relax if you've ridden A Bike then you already know the fundamentals, you know when to put your feet down and when to pick them up, you know the shift Pattern? you know when to shift Gears? You will be asked to make certain maneuvers, Pay close attention and you will do fine, Everybody on 2 or 4 wheels had to learn sometime.
Have Fun and Be Safe.

Just relax. Getting all worked up over it is not going to change anything. The purpose of the class is to teach you how to ride. The others in the class do not know how to ride either, or why would they be taking it. l took the class many years ago. They taught everything you need to know. You will probably never see any of the people in your class again anyway. So relax and have fun. Do not be afraid to ask questions, that is how we learn. You will do fine.

Everybody gets nervous sometime. Especially when trying something new.

Like when l enlisted the first time. l did not sleep a wink the night before they shipped me clear across the country.

Do not worry, you will be fine.

Just relax & have a good time! Have a good attitude & listen to ur instructors. l had been riding for years & l took a class recently. It was a great experience. The best score of all was by a 5' tall girl who didn'e even know how to drive a standard transmission in a car. She did not have any bad habits like l did. She started fresh & dominated!

Like l said..

Have fun. Everyone will be a little nervous, so u wo not be alone.

Good luck man & welcome to the sport.

Just take a deep breath & smile. Sometimes when u even pretend to be happy, u actually end up being happy. This is a secret that l am sharing with you.

Besides that, it all boils down to lots of practice & not allowing negative thoughts to take hold of you. Just as u have a watchman who restricts entry inside a hotel to the right type of people, similarly u must stand like a watchman to the door of ur thoughts & let only the good one pass. Try it. It works.

So how does having cold feet feel?

Instead of trying to convince yourself not to do something why do not u look at it like this.you're entering a stupid contest if u think about it. You're about to embark on a challenge which is based on learning how to do something & everyone is in the same boat, the instructors r very aware that people like u r coming & they r prepared for you.

Change ur thinking. You r not in a contest, not even a stupid contest because everyone showing up is stupid about knowing how to ride or they would not be taking the course to begin with.

The challenge is for u to show up & put aside ur self-doubts. Realize that everyone showing is feeling the same way.

The reward is over-coming ur doubt. Show up, try, & conquer.how can u possibly fail at anything if u just try?

The worst thing is not trying at all, that would be stupid..get in there & give it a shot - that way u win no matter what.you know..

Better to have tried & failed then never tried at all...

Do not worry, be happy. You're going to learn to ride a motorcycle, is not that enough to make u happy ?

No one here was born with the knowledge of how to ride a motorcycle, we all had to learn. Now it is ur turn to receive this knowledge. You should be excited =D

Yes, of course u will make mistakes. We all did. Why should u be any different ? but u will be in a safe, controlled environment with knowledgeable instructors to help you: it is the perfect place to make mistakes & learn from them.

You will be fine. Good luck to you, & welcome to the club.

My wife and her sister both took the class together and they have never ridden, but both passed. My wife never even drove a 5 spped car before, but did fine. The class is a great place to start. Do not sweat it, they use little 250s that are easy to handle.

l was pretty nervous before taking my MSF course couple of years ago too. BUT trust me, once you mount that motorcycle!!! The feeling you experience would be replaced instantly :) l had a lot of fun that last day and went home with a big smile on my face :)

3 months later l bought my first bike and never looked back at driving a car :)

The only thing that will screw you up is nerves, so just work on that. It really is very easy and the others there will be beginners so just enjoy the learning experience. There really is nothing to it.

ReLAX. Everybody at MSF is just starting and knows nothing. Do not really listen to your friends who are going to teach you the wrong way.
