I am a 16 year old girl wanting a decent first motorbike under $5000, l found a bike l liked, a Honda CBR125R, but l am 70kg and quite tall and im worried l might be a bit big for it. any other suggestions are much appreciated. And a rough idea of what insurance will cost would also help.

A Honda CBR125R is a brilliant first bike. Being a bit taller is an advantage as you can get your feet firmly on the floor when you stop.

Look at a 250 Ninja as well as some dual sport bikes. For $5,000 u could get a new WR250R that would be an excellent bike to learn on. They r built around a dirt bike but street legal. The advantage to this is that they r easier to deal with when u r in an area like a parking lot & have to maneuver really slow & also they handle being dropped a lot better than a street bike. Also if the urge hits u to head down a dirt road u can have a blast on this thing. The downside is they r not comfortable for longer trips on pavement.

l got a Yiben Hurricane VR50 for around £600 which is roughly around $1,200 it is brilliant to use and they use hardly any fuel

l would go with the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. It has a seat hight of 30.5 inches which is the same as the CBR125R but the engine is bigger :) Not to mention that the sports bike looks very elegant & stylish :)

If u do feel too cramped l would suggest looking & some of the other street bikes that r taller.

Keep in mind that the siding styles of both the CBR125R & the Ninja 250R is race so having ur legs folded in a tight angle might be something normal for that style of the bike :)

By the way, l do not think that the CBR125R is sold in the US - l was looking at the Honda site here & l could not find it. Canada sells it though.

$5000 USD? you can buy a 600cc with that.
