My hubby is thinking of selling his car and buying a 125cc moped, does he need any other licence other than his full driving licence? Can he ride it before he does a CBT? Thanx

Probably. Most states list 49 or 50 ccs as the limit on size a moped (or scooter) can be to not require a motorcycle license. Go to your state is DMV page to find out for sure.

most states if you have a license to drive you dont have to but cops could mess with you some and anything over 49 cc requires licence .. easy to call dmv or look it up your states name and dmv

yes he needs at least a provisional bike licence (category A) for anything over 50cc.
he cannot ride a bike of any size on road until he passes a CBT.
check licence both parts for entitlement.

l believe yes ofcourse he can.provided you can dodge the cops.If you are wearing a helmet and your body is well built.then l do not think there is a problem at all.

125cc is not a moped. It may be a scooter, but it is not a moped and you will need a specific license to operate it legally almost anywhere in North America.

If he passed his driving test before 2001, he does not even need a CBT, after then he does by law before he can get on any bike. Although, if he has not driven a bike for a while, a CBT is still a good idea.

in one word YES, he has to apply to the DVLA (if in the UK) to have motorcycle entitlement added to his licence. then he has to go for his CBT to make his provisional licence valid. then he has to do the pessons as u do in a car & then pass ur test because if he does not in 2 years time his licence is revoked & in effect will be banned from the road. the term moped only applies to bikes with a capacity of less then 49cc. anything over that is classed as a motorcycle. as he is over 21 he will be allowed to apply for direct access which will allow him to ride bikes of more than 33bhp. by the way he will have more fun than he can handle on a bike than he will ever get in a life time in a car

To ride a 125cc machine hubby WILL need to take the CBT.

All full UK car licences already have a provisional motorcycle entitlement on them, but you must take the CBT to validate this before riding.
