l would like to check the history of various motorcycles and check the status of registration before l purchase the bike. Does anyone know how to do this without running to the dmv every time?

Though l have never owned a motorcycle before, l assume they have a VIN like cars to. Go to CarFax, l think they can give you history of any vehicle that has been registered. If you are going to be looking at multiple bikes, go with the month membership, if you only use it twice in that month, you can get a refund.

First off just ask the owner of the bike. If u r buying used from a dealer ask the salesman to see the title & contact the former owner. Now take a long slow look at the bike. What type of bike is it? Is it a sport bike? It is probably been hot rodded. Look it over for tell tail signs of a crash. They probably did not replace EVERY scraped component on the bike. Check the oil. Is it clean like honey or is black like it has not been replaced regularly? Go with ur gut it is better than any car-fax. Car-fax is reported to by dealers. Let is get real. Is a dealer going to call & tell car-fax that they r selling a car that was wrecked & then repaired?
