Yes, if he takes it VERY slow. But yes. Be VERY careful. :-D My friends have done this with the R1.

Yes, u can learn on anything. It depends on the rider. If u give a young kid a liter bike & tell him to take it easy, make an appointment at the ER.

Riding is all about maturity & decision making. If u r mature enough to respect the machine, take the MSF Class, pay for ur bike, & get it insured, u should be fine.

You can kill or injure yourself on a 50cc moped just as fast as on a liter bike. Respect the machine & what it can do.

l learned on an old MX125 Yamaha on the dirt. Still to this day, if l get cocky, it will tip me off. My first street bike was a 78 Suzuki GS750. l was fine. Bottom line is: Respect the machine. Do not make bad choices. l know this because l have made some bad choices.

In theory yes, in practice no. First: you probably will not take it easy for very long because horsepower is very intoxicating. Second: If you ever ride with more experienced friends you will try to keep up but you wo not be able to, and you will hurt yourself trying. There are many better choices for a beginner. Please do us all a favour and stay away from large-displacement sports bikes for a couple of years.

Is it possible? Sure. Is it a good idea? No. Personally, l do not think it is a good idea for a beginner to try to learn on a 600 supersport either. Get yourself something like a used Kawasaki Ninja 500 or a Suzuki GS500.

A sport bike is a handful to ride if you do not know what you're doing. Downshift to hard or hit the gas to hard and you're going to wipe out. Why do you think there are so many ''slightly wrecked'' bikes for sale with 700 miles on them?

Yes you can :) If you have the dicipline and love the machine you will be alright.

One thing though - never underestimate the machine by thinking that you can handle faster speeds. The learning process takes longer than you might think, ESPECIALLY on such a powerful bike!

Not recommended. Keep this in mind. These bikes r not designed to go slow & handle terribly when u do. Also, one of the worst mistakes new riders make is to grab too far around on the throttle. When the bike surges u unintentionally twist the throttle more & the bike can surge out of control because u can not release the throttle. Things happen really fast on motorcycles, u can get in way over ur head before u know it on one.

why a 1000 supersport? get a Busa. you will grow into busa much easier and faster than into a 1000.

sure. may be kind of heavy but they only go as fast as you make them.

You could give a 16 year old who just got his license a ferrari if you wanted to. Just would not be a good idea IMO

l think you would have better success if you take the MSF safety course first. If this 1000 is the only thing available for you to ride, then you really need to be extra careful and take it easy.

The danger of a 1000cc is greater. More power, less room for error.

Get a dirtbike dude, figure out how to ride well.

Hit a pothole accidentally on a R1, accidentally blip the throttle (as a new rider u r not keeping a wrist-down position on the throttle) the bike will either

1) Spin the rear tire
2) Power wheelie
3) Lock the front or rear wheel

If u freeze up, like a new rider occasionally does when faced with a sudden error, u could end up on the ground or in the air.

Get a 250cc or something. You do not grow into a bike like u do shoes. You learn from ur mistakes.
