l was looking at getting a 500 or 600 cc bike. l did some research and found ON AVERAGE a bike will get the mileage of the ''cc'' of the engine. For example, if it is a 500cc it will on average get 50,000 miles, for a 250cc it will on average get 25,000 miles etc. If im looking at a used 600cc CBR with about 25,000 miles for around 2k would that be a fairly good deal? or should l shoot for something lower? Or are there gonna be a crap load of problems with it at that mileage.

so my 350cc with 78,000 on it was a freak?

l do not have much to add to that last posting. A well maintained motorcycle engine can easily go 100,000 miles & there r many around that have gone twice that. l do not think the ''cc'' of an engine has any direct correlation to the mileage u can expect. The majority of the factors have to do with age, maintenance, & abuse. A well maintained bike with high miles can be one of the best deals out there if u want to get into the sport cheaply. Just be careful & do a thorough inspection.

Sporkbike engines are beat like redheaded step children by younger riders. That is why they do not last that long.

Hyosung makes both a sporkbike and a cruiser, with basically the same motor. The Sporkbikes seem not to last neatly as long as the cruisers.

Do not blame the motor for how its ridden.

I've never heard it put that way but you are right. 2K for a CBR 600 that has 25K miles is a good price if the tires, chains, sprockets, brakes have been replaced resently. It will last another 20-30K before the cam chain starts to wear out. If it has not been thrashed.

l would not get a used 600cc sports bike that is older than two years. People push that type of bikes a lot and their engines are pretty beat up.
