To protect your head in crash. Because if they can get you to the hospital alive with out major head trauma they may be able to patch you up.

l usually do not wear a helmit around town and l do wear one on the highway. l wear a helmit for bug protection. Hope this helps.

To prevent head injuries, including puncture and abrasion, and the visor on most motorcycle helmets usually have UV protection. I've heard it keeps out bugs and dust as well
(for everything else it is useless)

Its a way for the state to shift the blame for its refusal to require auto drivers to take responsibility for killing bikers. Most motorcycle accidents are caused by auto drivers and most mc deaths are caused by internal injuries (as opposed to head injuries).

In a car u have a ''cage'' around u as protection in the event of a mishap. For a motorcylist, his/her gear is the only buffer between them & hard, rough road or another object.

The helmet is the primary means of proctecting the head from impact or puncture. Helmets also allow u to retain ur motor skills.

Do u need a helmet to ride a motorcycle? No. The law says u must wear one on the road (in some states).

265:122 Protective Headgear. –
I. No person less than 18 years of age may drive or ride upon a motorcycle unless he wears protective headgear of a type approved by the director. Such headgear shall be equipped with either a neck or chin strap.
II. The director is hereby authorized & empowered to adopt rules pursuant to RSA 260:5 covering the types of protective headgear & the specifications therefor & to establish & maintain a list of approved headgear which meet his established specifications.
III. If federal law is altered so that the mandatory wearing of protective headgear on motorcycles by persons less than 18 years of age is not required as a condition to the receipt by the state of any federal funds, paragraphs l & I l shall be void.
IV. Any motorcycle operator who transports a person under the age of 18 years, when such person is in violation of paragraph I, shall be guilty of a violation.

A helmet saved my life when l hit a deer at 55mph. l hit the ground head first. l need my brains inside my skull. l still think it is a personal choice.

on rainy days a full face helmet takes the sting away from the drops
when rocks fly off the road it could prevent pain
if you fly off a bike you helmet might lessen the blunt force trauma

You do not need to wear a helmet to ride a motorcycle, at least in my state you don't.

To protect those that should NOT be riding in the first place.
