Please go a little easy on terminology, this will be my first bike.
sorry l have 4 questions to ask, but they are short

one of my friends neighbors has an XR100 in his garage( l think its a 94) and he wants to get rid of it. He said he will sell it to me for 200 bucks, but l just need to get a chain. He showed me it, and it starts on the second kick and runs like a beast (a good thing) and to my knowledge has no problems and is in great general condition.

So, is this worth it?
how much is a chain?
anythings l should look for to determine quality?
and will it haul around 170lbs?

i dont expect too much from this bike so im not concerned about high speeds and such since im a pretty big kid.

Any 94 Honda that runs is worth $200.

Figure $30 or so for a chain.

It will haul your rotund body around, but l would not continue to grow if l were you. Taller is ok.

The price sounds good if it runs. If you buy a new chain, check the wear on the sprockets. If the teeth are worn to where they are ''hook'' shaped, you should replace THEM too, as running a new chain on worn sprockets will ruin the new chain.

Lube the chain every time you start riding another day.

plan on replacing the sprockets too. Never put a new chain on old sprockets. If it looks good, runs good (does not smoke), it is probably worth it. You're pretty big for a 100, but it will be okay to learn on. You wo not break any speed records.

yeah it worth it and for a renthal 428 chain is 35 to 40 bucks
