Could some one tell me the Advantages/Disadvantages to a rigid frame motorcycle.(bobbers)

well with a rigid framed motorcycle its stiffer but it can cause back aches and Other problems my dad rode rigid bikes most of his life and had a bad back because of it.

a ridgid frame gives you the lowest seat hight possible and that means a low center of gravity. The weight of the bike feels less. It is also better for drag racing as it puts the power to the rear wheel faster because it doesnt load up a suspention. however it is a rougher ride unless you use a pogo solo seat and run your back tire with less air.still a rougher ride.less moving parts to wear out though.

the ride is hard as there is only front shocks.

Rigid is look cool, that is the only benefit.

rigid frames are junk.

Advantages? They look cool.

Disadvantages? You must carry a color chart along with u any time u go pee. That allows u to assess the severity of ur kidney damage. There is 5 colors u need to match up to.

Clear. You're in good shape yet, let is go for a ride!

Light pink. Do not worry about it, you're still good for a couple more rides!

Bright pink. Hmmm, this does not look too good. Better park the bike for a week.

Light red. Oh oh, this ai not good. You might want to run by the ER for a second opinion.

Bright red. Oops! This definately ai not good! Casually ask ur non-hardtail riding buddies what their blood types are. If one matches yours, knock him in the head because you're going to need his kidneys for a transplant.

They are cheaper to buy and have the hard core, old school look. l do not consider either of those advantages. rode rigid chops twice when l was twenty and never again. that was 1969.

advantages- easier to maintain, customize, u can get a fat chick on the back with limited problems, rides lower & looks cooler. frames r cheaper.

disadvantages- scrapes on ramps & sometimes screws up ur bike if u take a really sharp turn (too low). resale is not as good. the ride is really stiff, but spring solo seats make it OK. ..but at first, ur ride feels like ''wow, what a piece of crap.but then u get used to it.

also, aftermarket rigid frames r harder to insure. Foremost Insurance will ensure it.
